I consider drawing the foundation of all my art, whether it is painting, sculpture, or another medium. I don’t draw to plan my work. Rather, I draw to feel, and to sense the possibilities of the substrate and the medium I work with, even though I may work with different materials in the finished piece. Drawing can be done with any number of materials, from pencils, brushes, sticks and branches, a floppy piece of rag, and more. Anything that carries ink brings fresh insights and inspiration in the creation of my artwork.
